United Kingdom Nurses Registration Badge and miniature

These are examples of a privately purchased Nurses badge which is often mistakenly cited as being issued by the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing and Midwifery(UKCC) after 1983.When this body replaced the GNC for England & Wales it controversially decided not to issue a registration badge, despite much protest.A number of companies decided to fulfil this desire for a badge and came up with the UK Nurses Badge which could be purchased by Qualified staff.They were available in a standard Uniform & a small Dress badge.They were bought in relatively small numbers and are therefore scarce today. This is a full size badge along with its matching miniature
