A pair of badges from the Royal British Nurses Association to the same nurse, in bronze and silver versions.They feature the cross with central crown and cornered Rose,Thistle,Shamrock and Leek.The suspension bar bears the motto Steadfast and True. The rear on the bronze bears the members name Katherine M Hull and number 5879.This lady is recorded in the RBNA Directory as being registered June 16 1916,Her qualifications are shown as The Royal Infirmary Liverpool June 1900 -Sept 1904,Private Nursing 1904-1909,New Hospital for Woman Euston rd Nov 1909-Jan 1910 Private Nursing 1910 .She Married and became Mrs Temple and is shown as having died in 1938.The second silver badge is named to Katherine Mary Temple and is hallmarked for TAL&Co Birmingham 1931.
The RBNA was the main body organising the fight for state registration of Nurses,led by Ethel Bedford Fenwick. These early membership badges were the voluntary precursor of the Later General Nursing Council Badges.Height 45mm
