Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children/Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge,pair of silver Nurses Badges

A pair of silver nurses badges awarded to the same nurse for her training in the 1950s.They consist of a silver and enamel badge for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children,Bethnal Green. Founded in 1867,In 1942 the Hospital amalgamated with the Princess Elizabeth of York Hospital for Children in Glamis Road, Shadwell, to form the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children. The design features a Thames barge taken from the badge for the East London Children's Hospital on a rose pattern,crowned with a King's crown.Good condition,pin,& clasp all good. Named for J P Bateson 1954 Hallmarked to rear for AR&S Birmingham 1954 Height 45mm.
The second item is a silver and enamel badge for Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. The badge design features a shield shaped badge with the lower half depicting the original Hospital buildings and Hospital title in light blue enamel.The upper half of the badge features 3 coats of arms around the hospital crest which bears the motto Per Undas Per Agros-By Water & Land.These are the County Council arms,those of the University and City and those of the See of Ely.
In good overall condition but with minor surface scratches .Pin is a temporary replacement and clasp good.Engraved to rear Joy Pamela Bateson 1959(She is entered onto the GNC register for sick children nursing in 1954 and general nursing in 1959.
Makers marks for Thomas Fattorini Limited Birmingham,hallmarked for TF Birmingham 1957.Height 36mm
