The General Hospital Jersey, silver Nurses badge
A rare silver and enamel nurses training school badge for the Jersey General Hospital in the Channel Islands,The oval design features a central shield bearing three lions on a red background, taken from the royal arms and signifying the islands close links to the crown. This is topped by a queens crown. Around the edge on a white border is The General Hospital Jersey, and then a thin red border is around that.
This pattern of badge was only in use for a few short years until it was replaced by a similar badge but with the wording The Jersey Group of Hospitals, unfortunately in a base metal.( This later version is the one I was awarded in 1979 when I trained there!)
Very good condition with enamel intact and pin and clasp good.Named for B J Torrens Spence 24.11.74.Hallmarked for JP (John Pinches )London 1970.
