Saint David's Hospital Cardiff,Nurses Badge

A scarce base metal and enamel badge for the Saint David's Hospital Cardiff. Originally the workhouse Infirmary, it joined the NHS in 1948 and eventually closed in the early 1990s when most of the hospital was demolished.The remaining entrance building is now converted to apartments and a new hospital has been built nearby.
The badge has an oval shape with cross elements.It bears a diamond with a hand holding a flaming torch.Condition is good with pin ,clasp and safety roller catch all intact.Makers marks for Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent Street Birmingham.The design of clasp suggests an issue date from around the 1950s.
