St Marylebone Infirmary, early nurses medal

A bronze nurses medal from St Marylebone Infirmary, (later to be renamed St Charles' Hospital),in North Kensington.Originally a Poor Law Infirmary, it was one of the first to have its own Nurse Training School under the auspices of Florence Nightingale.It changed its name to St Marlylebone Hospital in 1923 and then St Charles' Hospital in 1930 when it came under the control of the LCC.
The medal features the Virgin Mary and infant Jesus between stems of the Madonna Lily. This is suspended from an original blue silk ribbon, which is very frayed, with a bar brooch fixing. Condition of medal is good with minimal wear.The reverse is named for Sarah A Cross 1905-1908
