Another badge for the Mothers Hospital Hackney London. Originally opened in 1883 by the Salvation Army as a maternity Hospital for poor women(often unmarried women who would not receive treatment in most Maternity homes).It reopened in 1912 on a site in Lower Clapton Road and finally closed in 1986 when services were transferred to the Homerton Hospital.
This badge features a red enamel Maltese cross in to the centre with a blue central disc bearing the emblem of the Salvation Army.The Mothers Hospital London appears on a blue band around the edge. Good condition, pin and clasp intact. Marked to rear. J R Gaunt London.
