Princess Marina Hospital ,Upton Northamptonshire,nurses badge
A base metal and enamel nurses badge from the Princess Marina Hospital in Northamptonshire. This was the last NHS Hospital for people with Learning Disabilities to be built ,between 1969-1971 on the St Crispin Hospital site. Opened in 1972 it closed in 1995. The design shows a pair of stylised figures depicting patient and carer hand in hand against a sunburst pattern. (The design was shared with several other hospitals across the UK) In brass and enamel the badge is in relatively good condition although the pin may be a later replacement. There are some small pin hole imperfections in the enamel as pictured.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini regent Street Birmingham
